Back North & the End of NZ

The crossing to Wellington was described as “Moderate” - not flat, but certainly not rough so we played cards and killed the time. In Wellington we remembered the way to Grant and Helen's house so made our way there with no problem. We saw the kids and had fun with them and had a great home cooked lamb dinner and chatted. There was a Christmas tree up that was homely and we just enjoyed being there. A bonus was getting up and finding the Champion's League match on ESPN! Just before lunch we set off for Waitomo, stopping on the way for supplies, petrol, Subway lunch and more supplies. Slow progress but the day was blue skied and the scenery amazing, including the mountain covered in snow so the drive was OK. We never made it to Waitomo, only as far as Taumarunui where we stopped for the night. We'd made too much tea so asked an old guy if he wanted to join us and have some dinner. He did, his name was Peter and we had a nice chat. He told us to go to Manuia resort on Rarotonga. We'll look it up.

The power kept tripping out again. I'm sure we can complain about that when we get back to Auckland on Saturday!
